The Wren is considered a bird of the passerine class, phylum Chordata, and belongs to the family Troglodytidae.
It is a warm-blooded bird.
The Wren is a small bird that originated in the western hemisphere and is known for its melodious singing.
They are also known to be active, lively, and entertaining birds to watch.
Additionally, they are shy by nature.
The Wren is known to migrate in winter, starting its migration journey in spring.

Color:  The Wren has a body divided into two colors: the lower part is grayish-beige, while the upper part is reddish. Some species of Wrens have white or black lines on their bodies. Male Wrens have a different color from females, with the male’s tail being olive or green. 

The wings: The Wren has rounded wings, with each wing measuring 15 cm.

Tail: It also has a long beak and a tail that is often held upright.

The length: The length of the Wren ranges from 10 to 22 cm. 

The weighs: It weighs around 12 grams. 

The legs: Wrens have long brown legs. 

Beak: black upper beak with a yellow lower beak. 

Facts about The Wrens: What is special about a wren?


Their distinctive singing, with males singing more prominently during mating season.

They sing around 12 times per minute. Females respond with high-pitched calls.

Wrens do not wander far in winter due to the cold weather.
They huddle together for warmth.

Wrens build nests near larger, older birds to learn basic tricks to attract females.

Wrens are known for their aggressive behavior, where the winning bird takes everything from the loser, including the mate, eggs, and nest.

Wrens have excellent flying abilities and can navigate through dense trees and branches due to their small size. 

In the winter, Wren’s nest in groups. About 10 birds may gather within one nest.

The wren has a beak that faces somewhat downward, so it is able to search for insects in trees and the ground.

There are several species of Wrens including:

Bewick’s Wren:

The Bewick’s Wren is distinguished by its active behavior and long, white-tipped tail. 

It lays its eggs once a year, and is widespread in the northern and western

Pacific Ocean.

House Wren:

The House Wren is distinguished by its beautiful plumage and wonderful voice.

It is also characterized by its brown color above and gray below.  It also inhabits forests in North America.

Carolina Wren:

The Carolina wren lives in swamps and farms as well as in densely wooded human communities. 

The Wrens feed:


Wrens primarily feed on insects like cockroaches, grasshoppers, spiders, small vertebrates like fish and frogs, grains, larvae, and worms.

Where the Wrens can be found


The wren is widely found in the northern and central parts of the South American continent.
The wren is found in both Asia and Europe in what is known as the Eurasia region.
We also find the wren in the slope areas on the continents of the world.
The wren is found in open lands near water dams, such as the Javed Dam located on the slope of Mount Khab, south of the Mehran River.

Stages of reproduction in the wren:



The wren migrates in the spring and fall, and winter is its breeding and nesting season.
The wren builds its nest from moss, grasses, and various plant materials, in addition to tree leaves and feathers.
The wren carefully chooses places to build its nest, such as tree cracks, walls, or among rocks, in addition to the banks of lakes.
The male wren builds more than one nest, then settles in the most suitable nest with his female.

The rest of the nests are taken over by females.
The wren is considered polygamous, as it mates with more than one female, and the females incubate the eggs for 12 to 18 days.
The wren’s eggs are white with reddish-brown dots.
