About pinworms

Pinworm is a type of worm that infects humans, ranging in length from 1/4 to 1/2 inch.

Pinworm habitats

Pinworms inhabit the human body where they migrate to the anal area of the host to lay their eggs.

Reproduction in the Pinworm

While the infected person is asleep, pinworms lay thousands of eggs in the skin surrounding the anus.

  Symptoms of heartburn

Symptoms of burn injury include:

  1. Itching in the anus or vagina.
  2. Insomnia, irritability and disturbed sleep.
  3. Stomach pain and nausea sometimes.

It is worth noting that heartburn may not cause any symptoms.

Causes of pinworms

A person becomes infected with pinworms by accidentally swallowing or inhaling their eggs, as the small eggs are transmitted to his mouth through contaminated food, drink, or fingers.

  • After the infected person swallows the eggs, they hatch in the intestine and mature into adult worms within weeks.
  • The females move to the anal area to lay eggs and cause itching. When you scratch, you scratch the area and the eggs stick to your fingers or reach under your nails.
  • The eggs are then transferred to toys, bedding, toilet seats, food, liquids, clothing, or even others.
  • Eggs may remain alive on surfaces for two to three weeks.

  • Wash the anus in the morning, as it lays eggs at night.
  • Change underwear and bedding daily.
  • Wash bedding, pajamas, underwear, and towels with hot water to kill the eggs.
